Angel-A

We saw and we thought it was brillant.

From the moment the film starts you know that this is about to become one of Besson’s best. It was definitely worth waiting 7 years. Once again Besson manages to grab you. However, if you expect to see car chases, or gallons of blood as in Nikita or Leon you might be rather disappointed.
Set in the most beautiful city in the world, Paris of course, this romantic supernatural love-story/comedy is shot entirely in black and white. There are some amazing views of Paris but we also see its ugliness and the difficulty faced by those who do not fit the stereotype of what it means to be French. Anyone who has ever felt like a stranger in their own town will find a kindred spirit in Andre (Jamel Debouze). It is a struggle to fit into a culture and a struggle to value one's self as a part of it.

This creates a thrilling background to the story.
Angel-A is both a pleasure for the eyes and a delight for the soul.
André and Angela ( Rie Rasmussen) form the most unlikely couple portrayed on a cinema screen for a long time.

Don’t miss it.

ANGEL-A, directed by Luc Besson, is a visually beautiful tale that begins when two strangers meet on a bridge in Paris one morning. Looking to escape his past Andre (Jamel Debbouze) accepts the help of the mysterious Angela (Rie Rasmussen) and sets in motion a chain of events that will change his life forever. Beautiful in its simplicity, Angel-A is a striking, supernatural love-story.

Shot in black and white in an unforgettably picturesque Paris, the film stars supermodel Rie Rasmussen, who starred in Brian de Palma's Femme Fatale and Jamel Debbouze, last seen in the smash hit Amelie. Renowned director of photography Thierry Arbogast joins Luc Besson in their fifth collaboration, fifteen years since they first worked together on Nikita.
