10/05/2006 at 07:00
Avant-premiere screening of the musical documentary
Born in Eyen-Meyong de Monotélé in the South of Cameroon, Sally Soleone Nyolo has been living in Paris since the age of 13. Over a period of a dozen years, between 1982 and 1994, she established herself as one of the finest voices of African music through her work with numerous French and African performers.
Her solo career began in 1991 when she composed the music for a radio series.
Things started moving quickly for Sally in 1993, when she created her own group and gave a series of concerts. She was invited to England by the Womad festival and the following year, she recorded four titles for the ‘Around the World in twenty tracks’ album produced on Peter Gabriel’s label, Real World. At that time, she also met with Marie Daulne, leader of Zap Mama. Sally became a member of the band, touring extensively.
In 1996, in the midst of a heavy touring schedule, Sally recorded her first solo album ‘Tribu’ for label Lusafrica, which was released in 1997 and received the RFI World Music Award.
Since then, she has released three beautiful and original albums and toured around the world. Her last record ‘Zaione’ received a very good welcome among the public and the media.
Exclusively for members, one pair of tickets to be won
