Living on Love Alone
21/01/2011 from 20:30 to 23:30
Julie Bataille, 23 years old, an A+ graduate, lots of casual work – she's had enough. She's looking for a real job. During a job interview she meets Ben, who has decided to live each day as it comes and the odd deal or two. He offers her the chance to spend the summer with him in the South of France. Julie refuses but then, one day, drops everything and heads away to join him...
'A startingly realistic portrait of youth confronted by crisis, Living on Love Alone, confidently aligns itself alongside other naturalist French 'cinema d'auteur', which excels at capturing the multiple shades of the soul of its protagonists.' (Première)
Preview screening on 2 December preceded by a round table discussion on 'Women's Filmmaking in the 2000s' with director Isabelle Czajka at 6.00pm and followed by Q&A with the director.
The screening on 21 January (8.30pm) will be followed by Q&A with lead actors (tbc)

A fabulous film, with magnificent performances from all the cast and particularly the young leads. The venue is great in South Kensington and the compere was very eloquent, witty, and spoke and translated the French superbly. The director was present as well which I didn't expect for a Q and A. All this for only £9!!! I haven't seen a gem of a film like this for ages. Haven't been to the cinema in ages as nothing drives me to go until this film came out.
