The Playground vous présente Kavinsky, Kap Bambino, Autokratz et Is Tropical à Koko, le 14 Aout

14/08/2010

Room 1:

KAVINSKY (Record Makers, Zomba Music, FR)

This French-electro producer & DJ extraordinaire shows us why he is ranked among the world greats such as Justice, SebastiAn and Mr Oizo and been asked to remix Klaxons, Sebastien Tellier & A-Trak. In support of his new ‘Nightcall’ EP, prepare for an onslaught of the finest and wonkiest electro-tech beats to make your feet move like ants on acid!

KAP BAMBINO (Wwilko / Alt Delete)
Caroline Martial and Orion Bouvier are known for their exciting electrically charged live shows with Caroline’s wild vocals and Orion’s electronic metal mixes. They’ve toured throughout Europe and Japan, playing along-side These New Puritans, Late Of The Pier and Patric Catani and are set to blaze the stage in their only club date in between their extensive list of festival performances exclusively for The Playground. “Their digital hardcore sound is compelling.. …a demented pulse of fight-or-flight energy that leaves us wanting to stomp on car bonnets all the way home.” NME

                                    AUTOKRATZ (Kitsuné)
This London-based electronic duo which comprises of David Cox and Russell Crank work together to produce a distinctly unique sound which boasts infectious bass hooks and insanely catchy vocals that have led to support slots for The Prodigy, La Roux and Crystal Castles to name but a few. “The Kitsuné-approved duo deliver brutal bangers that would slip seamlessly into any Justice or Hervé DJ set.. …AutoKratz are coolly logical pop craftsmen.” NME

IS TROPICAL
This London 3-piece have been described as sounding like The Strokes if they gave up hard-rock-Thin Lizzy and listened to ratatat/justice. An Electronica sound concerned more with creating hooks and melody, but won’t shy away from throwing in a loop every now and then. From the moment you finish listening to their first song, you know you’ve found something that’ll stick with you.

TEENAGERS IN TOKYO (Back Yard)
Originating from Sydney, Australia, this talented five-some are currently based in London, UK. Their mix of dark pop had earned them a fearsome reputation, which led to collaboration with David Kosten (Bat For Lashes) on their Debut Album, and have performed sell-out shows with CSS, The Slits, Midnight Juggernauts and the Gossip amongst others. “It may well be a long walk home back to Sydney, but here’s hoping it’s one they don’t have to take any time soon.” Altsounds

RUBICKS (Sharp Attack - single launch)
Already establishing themselves as an act that stands out from the pack, with their New Wave-Electronica vibe that saw the London-based foursome performing alongside the likes of Gary Numan, White Rose Movement and John Foxx. “Fantastic ability to synthesize the pop pout of Blondie, the chilled machine thrum of Goldfrapp and the rock sensibilities of the Pixies into one late night, last-dance swirl of cheap lipstick and perfume.” 9/10, NME

BUSTER BENNETT
Famed for his hedonistic dress-up parties, including the Zeitgeist hangouts Antisocial and Nuke Them All, Buster is one of the few promoters who can consistently pull-off club nights of historical value, always leading and never following. Buster DJs a mean set, mashing up vocal elements from the cutting edge of dance music. 2010 will see his latest venture into music production, set to follow in the footsteps of his previous work with Yr Mum Yr Dad, Warboy, Crazy Girl and Frankmusik.
