From 20/05/2009 to 11/06/2009 at 23:59
Preview Screening : Fri 5th June 8.30pm
New Release: Sat 6th June- Thu 11th June
France | 2009 | col | 120 mins | doc | dir. Yann Arthus-Bertrand | cert. PG
One of the most important and respected environmentalists of our time, Yann Arthus-Bertrand's most famous work, the stunning book of aerial photographs The World From Above, translated into over 21 different languages, sold in over three million copies worldwide and was the origin for a later TV series and a touring exhibition that travelled to cities around the world, reaching 130 million people. Whether through his photojournalism, or through the NGO GoodPlanet he founded in 2005, his mission is to educate about sustainable development and request that individuals across every background, culture and border take note that we are all personally responsible for the fate of our planet. This is also the impetus behind his latest project, Home, a documentary featuring his trademark breath-taking aerial photography, and conceived as a global call-to-arms. Released on World Environment Day (5 June) on screens across the planet – in Central Park, the Champs de Mars and the Medici Villa in Italy – its objective is to raise awareness and inspire global action.
"I've been nurturing this film for more than fifteen years. What I saw and learnt as I flew over the Earth has changed me for ever. Today I want to share what I've sensed throughout these journeys ... Thanks to the quality of its images and its thoughts, this film aims to make us understand that we are ALL responsible."
Yann Arthus-Bertrand
