Asterix at the Olympic Games

Ciné lumière is pleased to announce its exclusive screening of Asterix at the Olympic Games from 1st to 16th February 2008.

In the third live-action Asterix movie (rumoured to have the biggest production budget of any film in European cinema history), audacious young Gaul Alafolix falls head over heels in love with Greek Princess Irina. With the help of Asterix, Obelix and their druid’s magic potion, he travels to Greece to win the Olympic Games and Irina’s heart. There, he finds himself in competition with Caesar’s treacherous son Brutus, who is feverishly plotting his father’s downfall. Of course, magic potions are banned at the Olympics, but luckily Asterix has a plan...

Gérard Depardieu reprises his role as Obelix from the previous films, but is joined this time round by Clovis Cornillac as Asterix and by a host of well-known guest stars including Alain Delon (as Julius Caesar), supermodel Vanessa Hessler (as Princess Irina) , Michael Schumacher, Tony Parker and Zinédine Zidane (as Numérodix!) and of course Jamel Debouse.
