In 1971, to break free from the shackles of her family, Delphine (Izïa Higelin) leaves her family house for a Parisian world of opportunities. She meets Carole (Cécile de France), a young Parisian involved in the stirrings of the feminist movement. Their encounter turns their lives upside down.

For me, knowing next to nothing about this movie the major selling point was Noemie Lvovsky, one of the finest triple threats - Writer-Director-Actress in current French cinema and more than worthy to stand beside the likes of Danielle Thompson, Anne Fontaine, Toni Marshall, Nicole Garcia, Agnes Jaoui, Marian Vernoux, Eleanor Faucher, Alexandre Leclerc and Valerie Bruni Tedeschi with whom she often works. I knew also Cecile de France albeit mainly as an ingenue in such fare as When I Was A Singer and Thompson's Fauteuls d'Orchestre so I was surprised to say the least by her far more coarse appearance here as a militant feminist and pleased to find that she was more than up to the serious acting required here. Izia Higelin was totally new to me and also a major revelation. Ultimately the plot - Girl meets Girl, Girl gets Girl, Girl loses Girl - had nothing new to say about bittersweet love stories but if it really is the Singer and not the Song then this is a great Refrain
