A critical and commercial sensation at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival, Stranger by the Lake is a captivating and seductive blend of beauty, eroticism and suspense. In a picturesque lakeside cruising spot in southern France, men sunbathe nude and hunt for anonymous sexual encounters in the nearby forest.

Handsome young romantic Franck (Pierre Deladonchamps) develops relationships with two contrasting men: Henri (Patrick d'Assumçao), an older, portly man and Michel (Christophe Paou), a muscular and dangerous object of desire. When a death occurs, Franck and Michel become the primary suspects but they choose to ignore the dangers and instead continue to engage in their passionate and potentially lethal relationship.

Part beguiling love story, part noir murder mystery, Stranger by the Lake is a provocative n erotic thriller that tests the lengths and limits of sexual desire. It is a most interesting film by one of France's most overlooked directors.
