Julie Bataille, 23 years old, an A graduate, lots of casual work – she's had enough. She's looking for a real job. During a job interview she meets Ben, who has decided to live each day as it comes and the odd deal or two. He offers her the chance to spend the summer with him in the South of France. Julie refuses but then, one day, drops everything and heads away to join him...

'A startingly realistic portrait of youth confronted by crisis, Living on Love Alone, confidently aligns itself alongside other naturalist French 'cinema d'auteur', which excels at capturing the multiple shades of the soul of its protagonists.' (Première)

'Drama, outlaw romance and social critique make this a compelling statement from one of French cinema's vital new voices, and Demoustier and Marmaï make a charismatic, hugely watchable pair." Jonathan Romney

'As Czajka's freshly acted, sprightly directed, insightful but never heavy nor didactic movie follows its young lovers on the potentially dangerous road south, she makes a seductive transition from an ironic and delicately scornful Laurent Cantet-style examination of the world of work to a look at love and freedom that probes keenly at the heart of the conventional romantic escapist drama." Time Out
