Serge Gainsbourg was a legendary song-writer, musician, lover and bon vivant whose career spanned four decades and had a profound influence on French culture and general music trends before his untimely death in the early 90s. The story of his life as a prodigal child in Nazi occupied Paris, through the years of a controversial love affair with Brigitte Bardot and his marriage to the young English actress Jane Birkin is brought vividly to life for the big screen.
