Rugby & Football inter-school tournament in Hyde Park on 10 December with Serge Betsen Rugby

10/12/2016 from 09:00 to 16:00

Get ready for the second edition of the rugby and football inter-school tournament and be part of the Serge Betsen Rugby’s history!

The Serge Betsen Rugby team is happy to announce the second edition of their inter-school tournament which will take place on Saturday 10th December in Hyde Park. For those who don't know, Serge Betsen Rugby is a rugby coaching programme created by Serge Betsen, the France international rugby union player. This event is open to young people from all primary and secondary French schools based in London. Moreover their younger brothers and sisters but also their parents are more than welcome.

Children from French schools based in Greater London will play rugby (tag / touch / contact) in the morning and football in the afternoon, while having fun and being coached by SBRugby and Sporting Duet Academy, a partner of the event.

The purpose of this event is to share the values of sport which are: respect, fun, teamwork, discipline and sportsmanship with the young players and to make this event an unmissable competition for London schools. After their first term, some children will have learnt how to play rugby and football with their SBRugby and Sporting Duet Academy coaches. Others would be interested in joining them soon and would like to give a go!

The event will take place in Hyde Park on the Old Football Pitches from 9:00 am to 4:00pm. Please don’t forget to bring a pique-nique with you if you want to stay for lunch time.
There will be workshops for everybody, music and other surprises. Children can register either to the full day competition or to one of the tournaments (rugby or football) according to their taste.

For further information about the way to register, send an email to contact@sergebetsenrugby.com

Touch rugby- Huh? Can you really play Rugby Football, i.e The game invented by William Webb Ellis in 1823 without a physical tackle. We found it a very different game when I played for the PUC(Paris Universite'Club)in 1967 I seem to recall thatmost of the training was spent at "Le Club" bar while my team mates explained the subtle difference of "Grand-Marnier" and "Cointreau", as code names for right and left scrum breaks,( still not certain which is which!) but at least I now know a bit about orange flavoured FrencH Brandies, even if my smother pass tackle, (LE SMOTHER!") was totally ignored.
