About the artist:

Unbound by tradition, Australian-Taiwanese pianist Belle Chen has distinguished herself in the short 4-years that she has been in London. Her approach to classical music is unique and incomparable, often integrating works of classical masters with sound-design mixed from on-location field recordings. Her creativity has been celebrated in UK: she was voted the winner of Classical Rising Star Award at 2015 London Music Award by a panel of distinguished UK industry leaders, handpicked by Brian Eno as winner of Curator's Choice for Music Award at 2014 NOISE Festival, and very recently endorsed by Arts Council England under the Exceptional Talent visa scheme. She is a 2016 BBC Introducing Classical Artist.

Her works have been featured and broadcasted through BBC Introducing, BBC China, Monocle 24, Classical Radio Finland, Classic FM, Macroview TV Taiwan, ABC FM, and more.

About the album

Drawing inspirations for its construct from concept albums of artists such as Marvin Gaye and Frank Zappa, Belle Chen's new album 'Mediterranean Sounds' is adventurous, carefree, elegant, and once again challenging the concepts of traditional presentation of classical piano music.

Embark on a journey with works by Ravel, Poulenc, Debussy, Albeniz, Mompou, Scarlatti, Liszt, and Fazil Say. Immerse yourself with recorded & mixed soundscapes from the Mediterranean ports. Mediterranean Sounds is a journey with music and mixed soundscapes from the Mediterranean.

The album is out on 8th September 2016 with a London Launch party & a series of promotional performances follow in 2016-2017.
