New Perspectives on WWII at Ciné Lumière on 19 May

19/05/2016 from 17:30 to 19:00

To mark the rediscovery of some rare WWII archives which will be displayed from next Autumn in the Institut Français's library, Ciné Lumière will stage a series of events focusing on War and Resistance.

To get the ball rolling, Professor Guillaume Piketty (Sciences Po Paris) and Professor Robert Gildea (Oxford University), will discuss the Encyclopaedia of WWII recently edited by Guillaume Piketty and Jean-François Muracciole (Robert Laffont) and Fighters in the Shadows (Faber), Robert Gildea’s latest book on the French Resistance. They will focus on international and comparative perspectives and new approaches such as the history of emotions and the individual experiences of soldiers and civilians.
