Frànçois and The Atlas Mountains
25/08/2015 from 18:30 to 21:00
Indie pop band François & The Atlas Mountains (25 Aug) are performing their new record L'homme Tranquille at Meltdown Festival at Southbank Centre.
The group is led by Brussels-based French musician François Marry. Burkinabé musicians Djiga Boubacar and Sanou Darra join them specially for this London premiere as part of Meltdown.
Combining French and English lyrics, Malian rhythms and high life, their music is as much new wave as it is pop.
In 2013 the band took a trip to Africa to tour and meet up with local musicians, with the intention of collaborating. What emerged became L'homme Tranquille, a four-track EP recorded across Ethiopia, Burkina Faso, Senegal and Benin.
'A band who so deftly combine African rhythms, French melodies, indie-pop jangle and new wave quirkiness' (The Sunday Times)
