26/10/2014 from 19:00 to 21:30

Filmed in the tumult of the last months of the Great War, French film pioneer Abel Gance’s epic still has the power to move and shock.

Based on the title of Émile Zola’s famous article for the defence of Louis Dreyfus, a French jewish soldier accused of trahison. J’accuse is Gance’s major work denouncing the war, using, as its main thread, the life and the death of a former ‘Poilu’ who became a pacifist. The film dramatises the tale of two men and one woman whose lives are tragically complicated by the horrors of the world’s first global conflict.

Multi-award winning pianist and composer Karol Beffa will improvise his music live, echoing with the silent images.
