Les Fauristes Chamber Choir continue their partnership with Tamise en Scène and are coming back in June 2014 for their new spring concert.
After a packed performance in January 2014, for their concert of French and European Music from the Romantic period at the French church of Leicester Square (charity concert in aid of the Night Winter Shelter for the homeless), they will present a new concert with orchestra at the French Protestant Church of London in Soho Square on Sunday 29th (5.30 pm) and Monday 30th June (7.30 pm).
Les Fauristes Chamber Choir and Orchestra will perform a programme of sacred music by one of the greatest composers of all times: Johann Sebastian BACH. The concert will be a journey through biblical texts celebrating and rejoicing in God on Earth.
The highlight of the evening will be Bach setting of the Canticle of Mary: MAGNIFICAT in D Major (for five soloists, a five-part choir and orchestra), one of the rare pieces by Bach written in Latin and for 5 voices (a characteristic shared with the famous Mass in B minor). The programme will also feature extracts from well known Cantatas, some of Bach’s most famous pieces for soloists or choir.
Les Fauristes will be accompanied by five talented soloists: Judith Charron (soprano), Blandine de Sansal (mezzo-soprano), Maud Maestracci (soprano), Alistair Digges (tenor) and John Evanson (bass), and musicians from the Guildhall, Royal Academy and Royal College of Music, and conducted by Blandine de Raulin.
