Thomas Dutronc live @ the Jazz Cafe on 26 May
26/05/2014 from 18:30 to 22:00
After a very successful tour, playing to 800,000+ people, Thomas Dutronc, the new phenomenon of the French live music scene, comes to London for the first time for a special show at the Scala on May 26th. Son of Francoise Hardy and Jacques Dutronc, Thomas Dutronc started his musical career playing with his childhood friend –M-. At the age of 17, he fell in love with the music of Django Reinhardt. His dad offered him a Selmer n° 566, a guitar than Django himself used and Thomas started writing his own songs quickly.
After working on various film soundtracks including ‘The Triplets of Belleville’, he released in 2007 his first album ‘Comme un manouche sans guitare’ inspired by French chanson and swing jazz. The album was critically acclaimed in France and Thomas Dutronc won the ‘best song’ at the French Music Awards.
Following this success, he worked with various musicians including I Muvrini, M, Ninine Garcia and released his second album in 2011 entitled ‘Silence on tourne, on tourne en rond’.
For his first London appearance, Thomas Dutronc will present his new acoustic show. Inspired by jazz manouche and swing, the new show features ukulele, guitar and banjo meeting French chanson for what promises to be an exciting night!
