Lufthansa Festival of Baroque Music 2013

From 10/05/2013 to 18/05/2013

From birdsong to ‘Baroque on the High Seas’, and Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons to Purcell’s pastoral odes, the Lufthansa Festival of Baroque Music celebrates nature in 2013 with an inspired programme of popular and rarely-heard Baroque treasures, performed by some of today’s most sought-after artists.

The second half of the Festival has a distinctly French flavour, with a focus on the 18th-century French attitudes to, and obsession with, all things pastoral. Florilegium – one of the UK’s outstanding chamber ensembles – explores the sun-dappled music of composers such as Marin Marais, Jacques Morel and Michel Blavet; while birdsong provides inspiration for cornettist Jean Tubéry and his Ensemble La Fenice, whose imaginative programme includes Etienne Moulinié’s Concert des différents oiseaux. The following day, prize-winning ensemble Le Jardin Secretmakes its Lufthansa Festival debut with a programme in which elegant French vocal expression reveals the sweet breath of nature.
