Emmanuel Despax with the Orpheus Sinfonia

25/04/2013 from 19:30 to 22:00

‘Poetry fused with breathtaking technical perfection’ is how the brilliant young French pianist Emmanuel Despax was described after a recent concert at the Louvre. For this concert he joins the Orpheus Sinfonia to perform three piano concertos, including a world premiere from Stephen Goss.

Stephen Goss’s accessible new piano concerto is inspired by the extraordinary architecture, sculpture and designs of Heatherwick Studio. The concerto was specially commissioned by SW Mitchell Capital for Emmanuel Despax.

In an innovative move for classical music, Orpheus Sinfonia presents the first classical concert for iPad and Tablet Audience. Bring your tablet and enjoy an interactive and visual experience during Stephen Goss's concerto.

The programme begins with Beethoven’s joyous First Symphony and concludes with two jewels of the Romantic virtuoso piano concerto repertoire. This concert will be recorded live for future release on Signum Classics.
