free Screening of 'House of Knives' | Rimbaud & Verlaine

From 27/02/2013 at 18:30 to 27/02/2012 at 20:30

Discover the secret life of two of France’s most famous poets.

Following the over-subscribed screening organised by m{us}e back in January in the City at private club Eight, m{us}e art club is delighted to bring 'House of Knives' to Fitzrovia, in collaboration with Poet in the City and Hanmi Gallery.

The short-film

This new short film depicts the turbulent time which the celebrated French poets Arthur Rimbaud and Paul Verlaine spent living together in London in 1873. With a script by the distinguished poet and writer David Harsent, librettist to Harrison Birtwistle, the film provides a dramatic account of one of the most celebrated moments in French literary history. The event will also feature a short documentary film about the house at No 8 Royal College Street, once occupied by the poets, made by the Film Unit at University College London.

This event is to promote the work of the Rimbaud & Verlaine Foundation, which is creating an Anglo-French ‘poetry house’ at No 8 Royal College Street. It will be introduced by Graham Henderson, the director of the film and Chief Executive of Poet in the City, one of the UK’s most dynamic arts organisations.

The event

The screening will be preceded by a complimentary Cocktail reception, kindly provided by Pernod Absinthe.
The screening is FREE to attend. All donations are most welcome and 100% will go towards the Rimbaud and Verlaine Foundation.
