Lady MacWata by Magali Muxart

From 08/02/2012 at 20:00 to 11/02/2012 at 22:45

An actress prepares to play Lady Macbeth. She can’t find her dark and criminal side, and decides to invoke 'Mamie Wata', a witch from her childhood in Africa. Elisa, the cleaner, shows up… A trip in the schizophrenia of actors, in African mysticism, and into the curse of the Scottish play since its first performance... Would these two women be able to undo the spell ?

Written and performed by Magali Muxart, this three act play, is developed by Exchange Theatre under the artistic direction of David Furlong. The multi-national company has produced over the last five years a body of work both in French and English and translated major unknown French plays for the first time in the Uk (Claudel, Durringer, Sartre).

Lady Mac Wata encapsulates this unique cultural bridge created between France, Africa and the UK.”
