Ciné lumière, in collaboration with Arte, is linking up with the prestigious Aix-en-Provence music festival to broadcast a live performance of a brand new production of Mozart's Idomeneo, Re di Creta, in HD.

Story : Idomeneo, King of Crete, makes a promise to Neptune, God of the Sea. When the king realises the terrible price it will incur, vows and hearts are broken. At the heart of the story resonate three questions: Can a father sacrifice his son to his duty? Should a son suffer because of his father's fidelity to old beliefs? Should not the future be founded on the peaceful reinterpretation of previous generations' ideas?
