Lo'Jo at the Jazz Café
From 11/05/2009 to 04/06/2009 at 23:59
On 4th June.
Doors 7.00pm.
Based in Angers in the Loire valley, French band Lo’jo Lo’jo are one of the great veteran bands of the world music scene. They weave diverse world influences into a stream of surreal poetry and café chanson, with a timelessly Gallic theatricality that the likes of Edith Piaf and Jean Renoir would have recognised. The transition between subtle electronic beats and plinking and whirring acoustic instruments is deftly handled, building a dream-like web of moods and textures around Denis Pean’s growly café-philosopher vocals.
“Lo’Jo should be playing big stadiums and festivals. Anyone able to catch them in a small club should count themselves very lucky.”
-John L Walters. The Guardian
"They have to be one of the best live bands in the world now."
-The Independent
