THE ARTISTS
Emily Loizeau
Emily Loizeau is a kindred spirit of American free-folk artists like Devendra Banhart and Joanna Newsom. She releases her second album, Pays Sauvage, on Bella Union later in the year after the huge commercial and critical success of her debut, L’Autre Bout du Monde, in France. An album of dreamy and often gently surrealistic folk, it finds her collaborating with anti-folk heroes Herman Dune and like-minded Franco-American group Moriarty. http://www.myspace.com/emilyloizeau
Anne Pigalle
Anne Pigalle is the very image of bohemian chic and embodies the spirit of Edith Piaf and Marlene Dietrich. She is best known for her mid-eighties album on ZZT with Trevor Horn, the classic Everything Could Be So Perfect, but in her diverse career she has worked with people as varied as Adrian Sherwood, Leonard Cohen, John Lee Hooker
and David Cunningham of the Flying Lizards.

Holden
Holden are based around the core of guitarist Mocke and singer Armelle Pioline. Over four gorgeous albums of deceptive sonic and emotional complexity, and through their collaboration with maverick producer AtomTM, they’ve perfected a uniquely ghostly sound. They will be performing specially as a duo.

Since the inception of the show, Rockfort has also been running and promoting live nights featuring the cream of up-and-coming French acts, first at The Social in Little Portland Street, and then at The Windmill in Brixton. The Rockfort website http://www.rockfort.info/ is the English language reference point for news and views on contemporary French music and culture. It is the first port of call for anyone who wants an informed and discerning view on the country’s musical output.
