Special Preview: Mark of an Angel
From 27/04/2009 to 11/05/2009 at 23:59
Based on an incredible true story, the dramatic thriller is directed by Safy Nebbou and produced by Michel Saint-Jean, producer of the critically-acclaimed arthouse hit, The Page Turner, and stars Bonnaire and Catherine Frot in the lead roles. The Mark of the Angel will be released in the UK on 22 May 2009.
About the Film
Divorced mum Elsa Valentin (Catherine Frot) is battling for custody of her son and juggling her job at a pharmacy. Her life is turned upside down when she crosses paths with Lola, a young girl whom she believes to be the daughter she lost six years previous in a hospital fire. Unable to let her thoughts go, Elsa first stalks and then shrewdly befriends Lola’s mum Claire (Sandrine Bonnaire) inching her way into Lola’s life, at the expense of her own son and to the bewilderment of her parents. As Elsa’s obsession heightens and her behaviour becomes increasingly disturbing, Claire confronts Elsa, which in turn brings deeply buried secrets to the surface.About Sandrine Bonnaire
Sandrine Bonnaire is one of France’s most respected exports. Since her Most Promising Actor award at the 1984 Césars for To Our Loves, Bonnaire has turned in one star performance after another in films including Vagabond (which won her the LA Film Critics Award for Best Actress), Under the Sun of Satan, The Innocents, Monsieur Hire, A Judgement in Stone (which won her the Best Actress Award at Venice Film Festival), East West, Intimate Strangers, Mademoiselle, The Giraffe’s Neck (her first collaboration with director Safy Nebbou) and A Simple Heart. More recently she released her immensely personal directorial debut, Her Name is Sabine, nominated for the César for Best Documentary, which told of her sister’s struggle with autism.Mark of an Angel (L'Empreinte de l'ange)
