Stephen Frears (Director), Christopher Hampton (Screenwriter) are expected to attend plus from the cast Felicity Jones and Rupert Friend tbc.
Based on the novel by Colette (Gigi), the writing sensation of belle époque France, CHERI is adapted for the screen by Christopher Hampton (Atonement). Set amidst the parlours and bedrooms of demi-monde, pre-World War I Paris, the film tells the story of the love affair between retired courtesan Léa (Michelle Pfeiffer) and Chéri (Rupert Friend), the pampered son of Léa’s bitchy old colleague, Madame Peloux (Kathy Bates).
Elegant, wealthy and acerbic, Léa seems in command of her pretty, pouty young lover, Chéri. However, six years on, the scheming Madame Peloux puts an end to their fun when she arranges a marriage between her son and virginal heiress, Edmée (Felicity Jones). But separation proves a bitter pill, and both Léa and Chéri are shocked to realise that they might actually be in love.
Certificate: 15 / Running Time: 92 minutes
