Zombie Zombie live set and interview

From 22/04/2009 to 06/05/2009 at 23:59

On Wednesday 6th May at The Monarch (Camden) at 7.30 pm. Not to be missed!!!

Zombie Zombie

Comprised of Etienne Jaumet and Cosmic Neman, Zombie Zombie utilise live drums and an array of vintage synthesisers to create a knee-trembling, bone-chilling fusion of krautrock and italo-disco, paying homage to the creepy soundscapes of John Carpenter’s 80’s horror movies. Last year’s debut LP release, ‘A Land for Renegades’ was met with critical acclaim, named in Rough Trade’s top ten albums for 2008.

Concept

The concept is simple: the band performs a live set, and then the writers of Beat Happening magazine interview the band on stage. Following the interview is a live audience q & a. What makes your favourite band tick? What inspires their lyrics? What do they prefer, jam or marmalade? Ask them yourself at the Beat Happening Sessions. The added twist is that the interview will then be published in the subsequent issue of Beat Happening magazine, one of London’s most reputable new music magazines, which in the past year has seen its pages adorned by the likes of Nick Cave, Mars Volta, Battles, Brian Jonestown Massacre and The Dandy Warhols.

Guests

Support comes firstly, from Provokief; using melodicas and Casiotone keyboards, the former Velofax keysman (and brother of Tom Vek) creates twee, jaunty pop songs, full of melodic brilliance. Also on the bill are art-noiseniks Lime Headed Dog. Led by former Good Shoes guitarist Joel Cox, their warped and ramshackle sound has been compared to that of Liars, and they have recently been performing several dates with the much-hyped Micachu.
