Full House for France at the National Theatre: a fully French menu to savour
From 08/09/2008 at 01:00 to 16/12/2008 at 23:59
Wine recommendations to match the dishes have been suggested by wine expert Jancis Robinson MW, such as a steely Chablis with the Dorade (sea bream) and an earthy Cahors with the Cassoulet de Toulouse.
For the duration of the sponsorship, which spans 11 weeks, the National Theatre is serving French wines only in all of their six bars, three cafés and two restaurants. A total of 48 French wines are on offer. Branding throughout the theatre is reinforced in the bars with French Wines logo vinyls on the bar backs, branded pocket guides on the bars and all bar staff sporting French Wines branded shirts. Around 175,000 people are expected to visit the theatre during this period.
The National Theatre is central to the creative life of Britain. In its three theatres on the South Bank in London, it presents an eclectic mix of new plays and classics from the world repertoire, with seven or eight productions in repertory at any one time. It aims constantly to re-energise the great traditions of the British stage and to expand the horizons of audiences and artists alike, and aspires to reflect in its repertoire the diversity of the nation’s culture. Through an extensive programme of extra activities - Platform performances, backstage tours, foyer music, exhibitions and outdoor events - the National recognises that theatre doesn’t begin and end with the rise and fall of the curtain. And by touring, it shares its work with audiences in the UK and abroad.
From Monday to Saturday, the French Wines sponsorship of "In-i" means the Mezzanine Restaurant’s menu will celebrate the best of French food and wine. The menu includes shared dishes for two and a changing Plat du Jour. A two course menu prix fixe, including a glass of French wine will be available for £17.50 from 7pm until 9pm.
