Yael Naim in Concert at Scala
28/05/2008 at 08:00
on 28th May
at 7.30pm

With a multi-coloured collection of ballads sung in French, Hebrew and English, the mood on the album ranges from naive, to melancholy, to spiritual; Naim's voice is unsettlingly pure, and her music relaxed, melodic, jazzy and genre-defying.
A concert not to be missed.

Her background
Yael Naim was born in Paris in 1978 to Tunisian, Sephardi-Jewish parents. At the age of four, she moved with her family to Ramat HaSharon in Israel where she spent the rest of her childhood. Later, she served in the Defense Israeli Forces as a soloist in the Israel Air Force Orchestra. She began her singing career with a part in the musical Les Dix Commandements for the film Harrison's Flowers. In her early work she was credited simply as Yaël. She also performed a duet with Din Din Aviv titled "Mashmauyot".
