One Two Another

Preview Screening + Q&A with dir.s Jean-Marc Barr and Pascal Arnold
Thursday 24 January, 8.30pm at Ciné lumière
Ciné lumière is pleased to announce its preview screening of One Two Another on Thursday 24 January, followed by a Q&A with co-directors Jean-Marc Barr and Pascal Arnold. The film will be shown in a double bill with the 2004 comedy Cockles and Muscles starring Jean-Marc Barr.
Told out of chronological order through a series of stunning flashbacks, One Two Another winds through a devastating series of events surrounding the death of one member of a punk band, lead singer Pierre. With the police getting nowhere, Pierre’s sister Lucie takes on the investigation herself. As we flash back to the events leading up to Pierre’s death, Lucie explores the vast power he had over her, their friends and people she had never met (including a local city counsellor who had made Pierre the centre of his occasional orgy nights), learning of complexly cross-hatched dependencies and humiliations, of bodies casually traded and ransomed.
An accomplished screen actor, perhaps best-remembered as the enigmatic diver in Le Grand Bleu (1988) and for his many collaborations with Lars Von Trier (Europa, Europa, Breaking the Waves, Dogville) Jean-Marc Barr made his directorial debut in 1999 with the Dogme film Lovers. One Two Another is his fourth film, and his third co-directed with Pascal Arnold after Being Light (2001) and Too Much Flesh (2000). One Two Another was screened at the 2006 Toronto and New York film festivals, and the 2007 Sundance, Seattle and Raindance festivals.
