FOOD GLORIOUS FOOD
Britain produces 700 named cheeses - that´s more than France!
There are more than 2,000 varieties of apple grown in Britain. The Bramley apple is still produced from stock taken from the original tree where a pip was planted in the garden of a Mr Bramley in the early 19th century.
The biggest ever promotion of British food on our shores is taking place right now! The seventh British Food Fortnight festival celebrates the diverse and delicious range of food that Britain produces.

The biggest ever promotion of British food on our shores is taking place right now! The seventh British Food Fortnight festival celebrates the diverse and delicious range of food that Britain produces.
It is a harvest time, so let´s join the celebration and think beyond the chicken nugget when planning the next weekend out. Come with us to explore vintage rural England and its fine artisan food and drinks.
We invite you on a culinary tour through the Somerset County, famous for its fruits of the land for centuries.
Our first stop will be picturesque Cheddar, home of the magnificent limestone gorge and caves and of course the Cheddar Cheese Company. After seeing cheese being made we will treat ourselves at the taster bar. Crammed with a heavenly mix cheeses from cheese logs rolled in herbs, chillies, washed in perry, sloe gin and cider plus local pickles and biscuits, you just want to taste it all.
An abundance of smoked delights, from eel to garlic, awaits us at Brown and Forrest´s Somerset Smokery. Their adjoining restaurant, our lunch stop, is a magnet for "foodies" - hot smoked salmon steaks flavoured with garlic and spices ooze flavour.
Somerset and cider go hand in hand - in fact no visit to the county would be complete without a trip to an orchard or cider farm. Housed in a sixteenth century thatched barn, Perry's Cider farm has been been producing award winning traditional ciders for over four generations. The ancient art of cider making is still very much alive and cider is stored in wooden barrels. A wide choice of draught and bottled ciders can be sampled in the farm shop.
Tempted?

Looking for a new experience? Try surfing!!! And Cornwall is the right place to go!
No plans for the bank holidays? Do not miss the opportunity to try surfing. It´s great fun!!! And don´t worry you do not need to be expert! In The Falmouth Surf School they will show how to do it! Plus you don´t need to worry about the weather either. Wet suit is maybe a little bit uncomfortable at the beginning but then it protects you perfectly.
And if you really want to challenge yourself try surfing in winter. As per our instructor, Spence, it´s the best period in the year and he never miss New Years surfing! Wow :)

Recently we visited with Minty his school in Cornwall and I can highly recommend him. Great fun, new experience ... simply we had a superb time.
We stayed in Cornwall in a beautiful town Falmouth. It is a small harbour with famous history. These days you can visit huge Pendennis Castle, National Maritime Museum or just simply wander in the city centre and taste great Cornish Pasties. Or what about ice-cream on the beach?
We stayed in the Falmouth Backpackers hostel run by Charlotte who travelled around the world extensively. She knows a lot about the town and will be happy to help you plan your stay. The hostel is really nice, very very clean and is closed to railway station, city centre and Falmouth beaches.
So if you still have no plans for the bank holidays here are some useful links:

Hope you will enjoy it!!!
