La Trompette has opened in Chiswick in February 2001 (before it was La Dordogne) after extensive refurbishment and has become very quickly a favorite among locals, although people do not hesitate to cross London to dine at this venue. The food is predominantly French, with strong roots in the regional cooking of the South and South West. Charcuterie, confits and fole gras dishes help to define the restaurant's stlyle.

It belongs to the famous restaurateur Nigel Platts-Martin. The food is Traditional Modern in a very elegant and modern decor, in the shades of white and brown. A fixed menu is proposed at lunch time at £19.50 for 3 courses, or £17.50 for two. The dinner menu costs around £25 for 3 courses. "La Trompette" is a non-smoking restaurant. It has obtain various awards for its food, including the Best Local Restaurant in 2002 from Time Out. A la carte, around £60/person.
