forget that the Private Rooms are ideal for larger parties of up to 24

From Monday 1st December look out for seasonal delights such as roast pheasant, spiced pears, individually baked bread and butter pudding, toasted chestnuts, soups and ripe French cheese alongside menu favourites; Foie Gras parfait with toasted brioche, Dorset crab and cured salmon, profiteroles and Scotch Onglet steak. We will be open for lunch and dinner throughout December and will be closed between Christmas Day and Tuesday 30th re-opening for lunch and dinner on New Years Eve. Due to popular demand, we will be open on New Years Day; the perfect way to start 2009. |

The
list that I have created at Brula holds a selection of some of France's
most wonderful wines, all perfect for year round drinking but at
Christmas there are a few that really come into their own and I have
selected some of my favourites to share with you. I would recommend any
of these great drinks to my customers in the restaurant but also for
you to buy in your local wine shop or supermarket.
Gallimard et Fils Champagne - I have had this as my house champagne for 8 years, and I never tire of the seemingly effortless simplicity of this classic aperitif; a must for canapés. Pineau des Charentes - a beautifully rich winter warmer, made from unfermented grape juice then fortified with brandy it is a lovely way to start your meal, ideal with Foie Gras; I also really love this with chocolate! Crozes Hermitage Blanc - This is wonderfully rich and luxurious and brings a stone-fruit spiciness to this great value wine; I definitely recommend drinking this as a great accompaniment to your Christmas Lunch! Bourgogne Rouge - Red burgundies will always be the top of my list for the Christmas period, a slightly spicy Pinot Noir such as this really cuts through the richer poultry and cheeses that you will be eating throughout the season but is light enough to enjoy in front of the fire and a Christmas film. Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh - This sticky is a marriage made in heaven with all Christmas puddings and sweets. From the exceptional vintner Alain Brumont, this late harvest sweet wine comes in an ideal size of 500ml; great for sharing. |
