Evening Standard Pub of the Year 1997 The White Swan has been sitting on the river since 1690. Outside there’s a balcony and garden on the river’s edge (tides permitting), while inside there’s old wood, real ale, and rugby. The walls are covered with memorabilia, shirts, ties, pictures and balls of the famous, and also those who just tried hard. Food is also a vital part of The White Swan, and a ‘help yourself’ buffet is laid out in the summer on a large table, while at the weekends a wonderful barbeque is cooked on the patio. Winter weather brings out solid traditional fare, and terrific Sunday roasts.
