By FranceInLondon
26/09/2012

The Gala Evening, hosted at the Institut Français, under the patronage of the French Ambassador, saw ‘The Artist’ carry off the award as London’s Favourite French Film 2012. The Artist, distributed in the UK by Entertainment film distributors, had also received this year a string of major awards including the Academy Awards for both Best Film and Best Actor.

London’s Favourite French Film award is in its 9th year. It was in 2004 that FranceInLondon organised this on-line vote for the first time. It has now over 5,000 French film enthusiasts taking part in the vote each year.

The results of the vote are then announced at the Award Ceremony which is firmly established as a key event in the London calendar of major French film events.

The event kicked off in style with a champagne reception sponsored by Perrier Jouët. Representatives of the distributors of the winning films were present to accept their prizes, with ‘Potiche’ distributed by Studio Canal coming in second place and ‘Sarah’s Keys’ also distributed by Studio Canal in third place. Overall, 2012 was one of the most successful years ever for French films in the UK with more than 40 films being released this year alone.

FIL were also delighted to have ‘Untouchable’ as the film for the evening courtesy of Entertainment Film Distributors, prior to its general release in the UK. It had both French speakers and sub-title readers roaring with laughter which, hopefully, bodes well for its great success in the UK market as a whole.

The after party was attended by the French Ambassador Mr. Bernard Emié and his wife Isabelle as well as 240 guests who were able to enjoy some beautiful wines courtesy of Wine Story, cheeses by Androuët and desserts by Maison Blanc

Hello,A great place to stay and not expensive at all is the Lux Hotel. It is loatced between Place de La Nation and Bastille, facing the charming Courteline Garden, with easy metro access, metro line 6 direct to the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe. The metro is less than 100 meters away the hotel. Very safe location. Rooms are clean, fully equipped, with shower and free wi-fi. The price for 2 persons is between 50 and 59 euro.
