Conran's new "ginormous success"
Almost a decade after launching Latin-American styled cocktail bar “Floridita”, Sir Terence Conran has re-appeared on the gastronomical scene with the opening of his latest project, “Les Deux Salons”.
It is the designer’s 46th project, and this one, he says, “feels very good”.
The two-floor bistro, which resembles the most classic of Parisian bars, offers a wide selection of classic French cuisine, ranging from lobster bisque to steak tartare.
The restaurant also provides a tempting wine list, with 30-odd attractive rosés, blancs, reds and champagnes.
The man behind it all, Sir Terence, despite many years in the business, has not lost his spark. “I still love doing things like deciding whether to cover the columns with a mosaic”, said the 83 year old.
Among Conran’s other accomplishments are the Bluebird Garage, the luxury home furnishing branch Habitat and Bibendum, “the most consistently excellent restaurant”. But the passionate restaurateur is also an established writer, author of over 50 books which describe his design philosophy, selling 25 million copies worldwide.
Described as a potential “ginormous success” by Guardian journalist John Lanchester, the central London venue will surely become, with its stylish designing and distinguished menu, a West End classic.
