Results of the French Elections in the UK
Over the last few weeks, six lists of candidates have been contesting the the "Elections Consulaires". The turn-out was unfortunately very low, both in terms of online votes, due to the many issues people encountered whilst trying to cast votes, and at polling stations, primarily because of the elections falling both on a Bank Holiday weekend and during half term.
There were therefore none of the long queues experienced for the presidential elections of 2007 and 2012, some small consoluation for the unlucky few who remained in London over the long weekend and who had the courage to come and vote.
The candidates on the other hand came out in force in both South Kensington and Kentish Town.
Around 8pm on Sunday, the results were still coming in from all over the UK and for some strange reason, none of the online vote results were available until Monday morning.
Here nonetheless are the final results:
Olivier Cadic's list, 'Union des Français du Royaume-Uni, rassemblement de la droite et du centre were the clear winners with 13 points, ahead of the Français du Monde, Unis à gauche. Les pieds sur Terre, Olivier Bertin's list came third with nearly 18% of the votes.
